The battle ground for the new breed of composite material baitcast reels will soon get bigger with the introduction of the Shimano Chronarch CI4+ at ICAST 2013. This reel will have new US form factor that emulates the current Core 50 mg 7 and the Japanese 2013 Metanium. Shimano looks poised to continue and try to please die hard anglers who were irked by the branding transition of both the Curado and Chronarch name. It remains to be seen if their efforts will be worthwhile with recent aggressive campaigns by competitors.

Based on information posted on BassPro.com this reel will retail at 269.99 in at least two gear ratios (6.2:1 and 7.6:1)

The Feature set will include:
X-Ship
SVS Infinity Braking System
CI4+ Frame
High Efficiency Gearing (HEG)
Super Free Bearing Supported Pinion Gear System
A7075 aluminum Magnumlite spool
Dartanium 2 drag washer
8 Bearing System (7SARB bearings + 1 ARB Roller Bearing)
Super Stopper® II anti-reverse with Assist Stopper
Septon PV power grips
Titanium IP line guides
Double-anodized spool and handle
Disengaging Levelwind System
QuickFire II® clutch bar
